A diagnosis does not tell the whole story
Insurers can assess a medical history differently. They may offer standard terms, additional cost, specific limits or exclusions, or decline an application. None of these outcomes can be promised before the relevant insurer has reviewed the information it requires.
Answer application questions carefully and include requested details about symptoms, investigations and medication. Avoid sending medical records through an ordinary enquiry form; use the insurer’s approved secure process.
Compare the wording of the offer
An exclusion can affect more than the named condition if the wording includes related complications. Ask for an explanation in writing, and check whether any review or reconsideration is available under the contract.
If you are switching plans, obtain the new insurer’s acceptance and effective date before ending existing cover. A new application can involve fresh underwriting, even if the premium looks attractive.
